深夜着でも大丈夫？ラオス・ワッタイ空港の両替＆移動事情

こんにちは、東南アジアだーいすきなホステルオーナーのはづきです。人生3回目、そして約1年ぶりにラオスに来ましたこの国の静かで素朴な空気感、何度来てもやっぱりたまらない。
Hi, I’m Hazuki, a hostel owner who absolutely loves Southeast Asia. This is my third time in Laos, and my first visit in about a year. No matter how many times I come, I can’t get enough of this country’s calm and simple atmosphere.

今回利用したのはチェジュ航空。日程は以下の通りです。
This time I used Jeju Air. Here’s the itinerary.

・2026/03/26
・広島 → 仁川国際空港 → ビエンチャン
・ワッタイ国際空港 到着 0:30（深夜）

・2026/03/26
・Hiroshima → Incheon International Airport → Vientiane
・Arrival at Wattay International Airport: 0:30 AM (late night)

このルートだと、どうしてもビエンチャン到着が深夜になります。なので、今回のような「両替どうする問題」に直面する人はかなり多いはず。
With this route, you inevitably arrive in Vientiane late at night. So many people will face the same question: “What should I do about money exchange?”

ラオスの首都・ビエンチャンにあるワッタイ国際空港。ここに深夜到着する便だと、まず心配になるのが「お金どうするの問題」。結論から言うと、焦らなくて大丈夫です。
Wattay International Airport in Vientiane, the capital of Laos. If you arrive here late at night, the first concern is usually money. The conclusion: there’s no need to panic.

深夜は両替所が閉まっている。でも解決策あり
Exchange counters are closed at night. But there is a solution.

深夜に到着すると、空港内の正式な両替所は閉まっています。これは事実なので、最初はちょっと焦るかもしれません。
If you arrive late at night, the official exchange counters in the airport are closed. That’s a fact, and it can be a bit stressful at first.

ただし安心ポイントが1つ。
But there’s one reassuring point.

SIMカード屋さんで両替できます。しかも、かなり積極的に声をかけてきます。「SIM？マネーエクスチェンジ？」みたいな感じで、ほぼ確実に向こうから来るので、探す必要すらないレベル。旅行者にとってはかなりありがたい存在です。
You can exchange money at SIM card shops. And they actively approach you. You’ll hear things like “SIM? Money exchange?” and they’ll come to you, so you don’t even need to look for them. It’s very convenient for travelers.

レートは正直ちょっと微妙？
The rate is… honestly a bit so-so?

今回の体験だと、
Based on this experience,

1万円 → 約1,320,000キープでした。そんなに悪くないかも？ほかの正規の銀行のレートは夜でやってなかったので比較できず。。
10,000 yen → about 1,320,000 kip. Not too bad? I couldn’t compare with official bank rates since they were closed at night.

「市内に行くまでの最低限の現金を確保する」用途としては十分。むしろ、深夜に無一文で動けなくなるリスクを考えると、ここで少額だけ両替しておくのが合理的です。
It’s more than enough to secure minimal cash to get into the city. Considering the risk of having no money at night, exchanging a small amount here is actually the most practical choice.

ATMも外にあるので代替手段あり
There are also ATMs outside as an alternative

もう1つの選択肢がATM。空港の外に出ると、ATMが2台ほどありましたよ！
Another option is ATMs. There were about two machines outside the airport.

・クレジットカードでキャッシング
・海外キャッシュカードで引き出し

・Cash advance with a credit card
・Withdrawal with an international debit card

このどちらかが使える人は、こっちでもOK。
If you can use either of these, that’s also a valid option.

ただし注意点として、
However, keep in mind:

・深夜で人が少ない
・若干わかりづらい位置かも

・It’s late at night, so there are few people around
・The location may be a bit hard to find

なので、無理に探し回るよりはSIM屋でサクッと両替の方が安心かも。。
So instead of searching around, it may be safer to just exchange money quickly at a SIM shop.

深夜でもタクシーはある？→普通にあります
Are taxis available late at night? → Yes, no problem

結論、問題なしです。空港内にタクシーカウンターがあり、ここで行き先を伝えます。
In short, no problem. There’s a taxi counter inside the airport where you tell them your destination.

やり方はシンプルで、
The process is simple:

・ホテル名を見せる
・料金を支払う
・ドライバーをアサインされる

・Show your hotel name
・Pay the fare
・Get assigned a driver

という流れ。
That’s it.

料金は今回、
This time, the fare was:

・市内まで一律 7ドル
・キープ払いで 153,000キープ

・Flat rate to the city: $7
・Or 153,000 kip

でした。
That’s what I paid.

このレートを見ると、空港の為替はだいたい 1ドル ≒ 約21,800キープ前後で計算されているので、両替レートと大きく乖離はありません。
From this, the airport exchange rate is roughly 1 USD ≈ 21,800 kip, which isn’t too far off from exchange rates.

つまり、多少レートが悪くても空港内で完結させるのが最もストレスが少ない動き方です。
So even if the rate isn’t perfect, handling everything inside the airport is the least stressful option.

まとめ
Summary

・深夜は両替所は閉まっている
・でもSIMカード屋で両替可能（むしろ向こうから来る）
・レートは少し悪いが、緊急用としては十分
・外にATMもあるが無理に探さなくてOK
・タクシーは深夜でも普通にある（市内一律7ドル）

・Exchange counters are closed at night
・But SIM shops offer exchange (they approach you)
・Rates are slightly worse but fine for emergencies
・ATMs are available outside, but no need to search hard
・Taxis are available even at night (flat $7 to the city)

ラオスは全体的にゆるい国ですが、こういう「最低限のインフラ」はちゃんと整っています。
Laos is generally a relaxed country, but basic infrastructure like this is well in place.

深夜到着でも詰むことはないので、安心して大丈夫です。
Even if you arrive late at night, you won’t be stuck, so no need to worry.
