もちろんそれも間違いではないです！
でも、私が思うゲストハウスの価値は、ベッドそのものではなく「人との出会い」にあります

ラウンジで隣に座った人と話してみる。世界中の旅の話を聞く。自分の知らなかった価値観に触れる。そんな何気ない時間が、何年経っても忘れられない思い出になることがあります。

国籍も、年齢も、英語の上手さも関係ない。
「ちょっと話してみようかな。」
その一歩が、人の世界を広げることって本当にあるよね。

People often think a hostel is simply a cheap place to stay.
And that’s true—to some extent. But to us, the real value of a hostel isn’t the bed. It’s the people.
You sit next to someone in the lounge. You hear stories from the other side of the world. You discover a different way of thinking.
Those small, ordinary moments often become the memories that stay with you for years. Your nationality, age, or English level doesn’t really matter.
Sometimes all it takes is one simple conversation to make your world a little bigger.

スタッフあゆみ日記。今日のホステルは、韓国人ゲストが韓国料理のプルダックを振る舞ってくれることになり、持ち寄り＆たこ焼きパーティーをしました❤️ 超絶cheerfulで英語ペラペラな日本人大学生も来てくれてて、韓国、台湾、イタリア、日本、フランスの5カ国・地域交流に✨ ボードゲームをしたり、みんなでごはんを作ったり、いつも以上にわいわいノリノリな1日になりましたいろんな国の言葉で話して、笑って、食べて、遊んで、気づいたらキッチンまで国際交流の場になっちゃう。今日も楽しい時間をありがとう〜！

아유미 스태프 일기. 오늘 에버그린 호스텔에서는 한국인 게스트가 불닭 요리를 만들어 주겠다고 해서, 각자 음식을 가져오고 타코야키 파티도 했습니다❤️ 엄청 cheerful하고 영어도 아주 잘하는 일본인 대학생도 와줘서, 한국, 대만, 이탈리아, 일본, 프랑스 5개국・지역 교류가 되었어요✨ 보드게임도 하고, 다 같이 음식을 만들고, 평소보다 더 와글와글 신나는 하루가 되었습니다 여러 나라의 말로 이야기하고, 웃고, 먹고, 놀다 보니 어느새 주방까지 국제교류의 장이 되어버리는 에버그린. 오늘도 즐거운 시간 고마워요〜！

Ayumi 員工日記。今天在 Evergreen Hostel，有一位韓國客人說要做韓國料理「火雞麵／辣雞料理」給大家吃，所以我們辦了大家各自帶食物來的聚餐＆章魚燒派對❤️ 還有一位超級 cheerful、英文超流利的日本大學生也來了，變成韓國、台灣、義大利、日本、法國 5 個國家・地區的大交流✨ 大家一起玩桌遊、一起做飯，今天比平常更熱鬧、更嗨用不同國家的語言聊天、笑、吃、玩，回過神來連廚房都變成國際交流的地方了。今天也謝謝大家帶來這麼開心的時間〜！

Diario dello staff Ayumi. Oggi all’Evergreen Hostel, un ospite coreano ha detto che avrebbe preparato un piatto coreano, il buldak, quindi abbiamo fatto una festa potluck e takoyaki❤️ È venuta anche una studentessa universitaria giapponese super cheerful e bravissima in inglese, e alla fine è diventato uno scambio tra Corea, Taiwan, Italia, Giappone e Francia✨ Abbiamo giocato a giochi da tavolo, cucinato tutti insieme, e la giornata è stata ancora più vivace e piena di energia del solito Abbiamo parlato in tante lingue diverse, riso, mangiato e giocato, e senza accorgercene anche la cucina è diventata uno spazio di scambio internazionale. Grazie a tutti per questo bellissimo momento anche oggi〜！

Aujourd’hui à l’Evergreen Hostel, un guest coréen nous a proposé de préparer un plat coréen, du buldak, alors on a fait une soirée potluck et takoyaki❤️ Une étudiante japonaise super cheerful et très à l’aise en anglais est aussi venue, et on s’est retrouvés avec un échange entre la Corée, Taïwan, l’Italie, le Japon et la France✨ On a joué à des jeux de société, cuisiné tous ensemble, et la journée était encore plus animée et festive que d’habitude On a parlé dans plusieurs langues, ri, mangé, joué, et sans même s’en rendre compte, la cuisine aussi est devenue un lieu d’échange international. Merci！

夜な夜な勝手に行われている国際交流モーメントは、私がスタッフに「こういうふうに盛り上げて！」って指示しているわけではないんです。本当に、その場に居合わせたゲストやスタッフの間で自然発生的に起きている時間。私がスタッフにお願いしているのは、①掃除は真面目にやる ②チェックインではとにかくフレンドリーに迎える ③国内留学の人にはできるだけ英語を使う、この3つだけ。あとは全部ナチュラルな流れです。それでも、私がいない時間にゲストやスタッフが自然に交流して、「楽しかった」と思ってくれることが、何よりも嬉しいです
Those little international exchange moments that happen late at night are not something I tell my staff to create. I don’t say, “Please make it like this!” They just happen naturally between the guests and staff who happen to be there. The only things I ask my staff are: 1) clean seriously, 2) welcome guests warmly at check-in, and 3) use as much English as possible with people doing our domestic English immersion program. That’s it. Everything else is just a natural flow. So when guests and staff connect with each other even when I’m not there, and they genuinely enjoy that time, it makes me happier than anything.

My experience so far: Japan simply feels like home.
From the very first day, I felt like I was in the right place. It is a feeling I have experienced only once before in my life.

Hiroshima is a wonderful city. It is quiet and easy to explore, but its impact on me has been, and still is, more personal than cultural. Still, I am impressed by how polite people are and how clean this city is. ✨

Hostel life is just amazing.
I get to meet so many people, and most of them are very friendly. Sometimes, a natural connection happens between guests and staff members, and it is just beautiful.

For me, as someone who is a bit introverted and not very talkative, being able to get into conversations with almost everyone so easily is truly surprising. This is an experience I will never forget.

And about the work: if talking, making friends, and enjoying meals together is work, then I want to work every day! ️Of course, working here is not only that. But when you feel good, even cleaning, making beds, and other duties become pleasant activities. ️✨

誰かが「ゲームしよう！」と言えば自然と人が集まって、気づけばみんな夢中。国籍も年齢も関係なく、同じ画面を見て笑って、悔しがって、大盛り上がり

こういう何気ない時間こそ、ホステルのコアの価値だよなあ〜　みんな可愛すぎる

ご飯を食べて、ゲームをして、飲みに行って、広島を一緒に歩いて。たった数日、数週間の出会いなのに、まるで昔からの友達みたい。
こういう瞬間を見られるから、この仕事は最高～

Someone says, “Let’s play a game,” and before you know it, everyone’s gathered around. No matter their nationality or age, they’re all looking at the same screen, laughing, cheering, and getting way too competitive.

These simple moments are the real core value of a hostel.
You guys are just too cute.

Sharing meals, playing games, going out for drinks, and exploring Hiroshima together. Even though you’ve only known each other for a few days or weeks, it feels like you’ve been friends for years.

Getting to witness moments like these is exactly why I love this job.
