With its all-red facade, this tiny restaurant looks very instagrammable. It almost feels like being in Taiwan. What\u2019s more, the little restaurant gives off this \u2018urban Chinese\u2019 vibe \u2014 you can just feel that in here, the hearts and hunger of many Chinese natives have been satisfied.<\/p>\n<h3><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-9032\" src=\"http:\/\/evergreenhostel.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/IMG_20191109_131350-300x148.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_20191109_131350\" width=\"300\" height=\"148\" srcset=\"http:\/\/evergreenhostel.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/IMG_20191109_131350-300x148.jpg 300w, http:\/\/evergreenhostel.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/IMG_20191109_131350-768x379.jpg 768w, http:\/\/evergreenhostel.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/IMG_20191109_131350-1024x505.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>So, what shall we have?<\/h3>\n<p class=\"rstinfo-table__subject\">Traditional, private-run \u2018urban\u2019 Chinese restaurants in Japan tend to be Japanised, despite their name. It\u2019s not quite like authentic Chinese cuisine. With that in mind, let\u2019s move on to the deep-fried chicken (<i>karaage<\/i>) I felt like ordering that day (or every day, in fact). My compagnons ordered a soy-sauce (<i>sh\u014dyu<\/i>) ramen and a grilled meat (<i>yakiniku<\/i>) ramen.<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-9035 alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/evergreenhostel.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/IMG_20191109_130905-300x148.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_20191109_130905\" width=\"300\" height=\"148\" srcset=\"http:\/\/evergreenhostel.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/IMG_20191109_130905-300x148.jpg 300w, http:\/\/evergreenhostel.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/IMG_20191109_130905-768x379.jpg 768w, http:\/\/evergreenhostel.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/IMG_20191109_130905-1024x505.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Ah\u2026 such a comforting taste. Calling it absurdly savoury would not be the most appropriate description\u2026 Rather, it\u2019s the kind of taste where one would say, \u201cYes, this\u2026 this is it!\u201d Or as\u00a0<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/wiki.d-addicts.com\/Kodoku_no_Gurume\"><i>Kodoku no Gourmet<\/i>\u2019s<\/a><\/strong><\/span> Gor\u014d-san would say: \u201cHa, this is good. I&#8217;m fine with this kind of thing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>My thoughts exactly.<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019d really like you, our international visitors, to try out this food too. If only for the fact that it really tastes like where it originates from. It might be a <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-9031 alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/evergreenhostel.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/IMG_20191109_131348-300x148.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_20191109_131348\" width=\"300\" height=\"148\" srcset=\"http:\/\/evergreenhostel.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/IMG_20191109_131348-300x148.jpg 300w, http:\/\/evergreenhostel.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/IMG_20191109_131348-768x379.jpg 768w, http:\/\/evergreenhostel.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/IMG_20191109_131348-1024x505.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>long stretch but, I\u2019d almost call it part of Japan\u2019s culinary heritage. Original Japanese food is also good, of course. Sushi and tempura are also great. And I would also recommend you to try out each region\u2019s unique okonomiyaki. You\u2019ll be going \u201coh, but this also tastes good!\u201d\u3002<\/p>\n<p>Anyway, if I would try to summarise my impressions of Sai Sai Rai, I would describe it as a <span style=\"color: #008080;\"><strong>Japanised tiny local Chinese restaurant<\/strong><\/span>. Or something like that.<\/p>\n<p>If you\u2019re looking for something similar close to the hostel, how about the H\u014drai Chinese Restaurant? There is a superfluous menu, and appealing pictures of some of their offerings are stuck on the walls, so finding your pick among the vast choice won\u2019t be too easy.
